Recently, OpenAI launched ChatGPT, an extremely powerful language model chatbot that can answer complex questions in a conversational manner. It has become the talk of the town since its release. ChatGPT is everywhere! The New York Times reported that Google's existence could be threatened by ChatGPT for its playfulness and efficiency to give direct answers to any question.

GPT is a large transformer-based language model developed by OpenAI that has been trained on a diverse dataset of texts, including books, articles, and websites, in order to learn the structure and style of natural language. It has achieved state-of-the-art performance on a number of natural language processing tasks, including language translation, language generation, and text summarization. ChatGPT was fine-tuned on top of GPT-3.5 using supervised learning as well as reinforcement learning. It was trained on a large dataset of chat logs as a result racism, bias, and misinformation can bleed into a ChatGPT’s learning model. The OpenAI researchers used a technique called Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF), which uses human feedback in the training loop to minimize harmful, untruthful, and/or biased outputs.
ChatGPT can understand and masterfully handle conversations that cover many topics or persist for a long time. It generates richer responses with emojis and abbreviations
What are the use cases of ChatGPT?
The use cases of ChatGPT are off-limits.
- Customer Service: ChatGPT can be used for customer service inquiries, providing quick and accurate responses to users.
- Content Creation: By using ChatGPT, content creators can generate articles, stories, and other written content faster and more efficiently.
- Education: ChatGPT can be your virtual tutor to help you understand and learn new concepts.
- Language Translation: ChatGPT can be used to translate text from one language to another, making it easier for users to communicate with each other in different languages.
- E-commerce Platform: ChatGPT could be used to improve the user experience and drive conversions.
Cool #ChatGPT trick!

“The tech is here, embrace it.” I’ve had numerous conversations with educators about #chatgpt and the “fear” that it brings to classrooms. It’s here! We’re going to have to be strategic to get in front of it and be creative in the way it’s used in the classroom by students! https://t.co/D6o62yBpKV

What are the limitations of ChatGPT?
- ChatGPT cannot provide real-time information or real-time directions as it doesn’t have access to the internet. As proof, here is my conversation with ChatGPT.
- I talked to ChatGPT to find out how it communicates. My finding is it cannot accept images, URLs, audio, or any other non-textual mode of input. Similarly, it cannot output images, URLs, or audio. Its mode of communication is textual.
- ChatGPT doesn’t always provide the correct answers. Many users have discovered that ChatGPT can provide incorrect answers, including some that are hugely inaccurate. Due to the poor quality of the answers generated by ChatGPT, Stack Overflow has temporarily banned any users who post answers generated from it.
ChatGPT is sometimes amazing, and sometimes hilariously wrong. Here, it confidently explains to me why an abacus is faster than a GPU. 😃 pic.twitter.com/vpJZTStDnD

- In spite of OpenAI’s best efforts, ChatGPT cannot completely avoid biased or racist output.
Yes, ChatGPT is amazing and impressive. No, @OpenAI has not come close to addressing the problem of bias. Filters appear to be bypassed with simple tricks, and superficially masked.

GPTZero is an AI plagiarism detection tool developed by Princeton University Computer Science major, Edward Tian. This tool is very effective in decoding whether an essay was written by a human or by ChatGPT.
I spent New Years building GPTZero — an app that can quickly and efficiently detect whether an essay is ChatGPT or human written
— Edward Tian (@edward_the6) January 3, 2023
To evaluate its performance, I fed GPTZero an essay written on Chatbot by ChatGPT. GPTZero evaluated the originality of the given essay by analyzing two characteristics: "perplexity" and "burstiness”
- Perplexity: Perplexity assesses the probability of each word being suggested by a bot, as opposed to a human who would be more unpredictable. Texts with lower perplexities are more likely to be generated by language models. GPTZero gave the essay a perplexity score of 9 which was comparatively low and an indication of AI-generated text.
- Burstiness: Burstiness examines the disparity in the perplexity of each sentence. Bots tend to have a consistent degree of perplexity throughout the text, while humans tend to have more variations, such as a longer, complex sentence followed by a shorter one.
GPTZero indicated the essay was likely to be AI-generated which was correct!
Overall, ChatGPT is a powerful tool that has the potential to transform the way chatbots are utilized and can greatly enhance the user experience of chatbot applications in various fields. However, chatbots, including ChatGPT, have limitations and should not be solely relied upon for making critical decisions.
